Noura Embabi is the current president of Muslimish, an organization that provides a forum for ex-Muslims and questioning Muslims to meet and exchange ideas. In a daring move, Muslimish is holding its December conference right in Dearborn, Michigan—the city with the highest Muslim population percentage in the United States. Noura is from an Egyptian-American family and used to be religious and wear the hijab until a few years ago. Today she is a rising star and riveting public speaker. She talks to us about Muslimish, her journey from Islam to Enlightenment, and how her organization works to bring Muslims and ex-Muslims together in free space for open dialogue.
