This year, the immensely talented and popular Somali-Dutch-British singer decided to speak publicly about her upbringing as a Muslim (she was wearing the hijab at "age 8", and why she does not identify as one anymore. Along with other prominent public figures like Zayn Malik and Jameela Jamil who came from Muslim backgrounds but no longer believe in Islam, Autumn's story is characteristic of countless young people in the world today who are embracing reason and independence over faith.
