In the aftermath of the brutal beheading of schoolteacher Samuel Paty by an Islamic fundamentalist, President Emmanuel Macron wants to ban homeschooling as part of an effort to curb religious indoctrination. This initiative includes giving students ID numbers to ensure they are attending school, and hefty fines for parents who don't comply. France has the largest percentage Muslim population in Western Europe, has suffered several Islamic terrorist attacks in just the last month, and Macron is receiving strong pushback as a liberal-leaning head of state.
