When he saw Hindutva (Hindu nationalist) trolls cheering him on for blaspheming against Islam, Armin Navabi decided to test how consistent they were. He put out a harmless tweet about how he finds Hindu goddesses (which, to be sure, are fictional characters) attractive. The online response was massive, vile, and threatening in a way he had never even experienced with Islamic fundamentalists. Within hours, “Armin Navabi” was trending on Indian Twitter. In this episode, we talk about this controversy and the victimless non-crime of “blasphemy.” Are Hindutva jihadists really any different from Islamic jihadists?
